By analyzing 9 studies published between 2011 and 2023, this review identifies key themes related to fear, distrust, ethical concerns, and the influence of media portrayals on the acceptance and adoption of AI technologies. The findings indicate that negative portrayals in these genres significantly increase fear and anxiety towards AI, leading to heightened skepticism and ethical concerns. Moreover, these negative stereotypes hinder the acceptance of AI in various fields, particularly affecting younger demographics more profoundly. This study included 550 Malaysians between the ages of 18 and 30 years old (M = 28.49, SD = 6.18). The sample was randomly split into two groups for exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis to explore the PERMA model. The revised model revealed satisfactory internal consistency and reliability. Additionally, this study examined the measurement invariance of the PERMA model through gender, education, and marriage groups by multigroup confirmatory factor analysis. The findings revealed that measurement invariance was obtained across gender and education categories. This instrument uses multidimensional conceptualization to offer researchers studying youth well-being in Malaysia a specialized tool to assess and increase youth well-being levels. The study also explores the mediating role of attitude and intention and the moderating effect of organizational culture. A cross-sectional survey of 399 young mothers who are breast cancer survivors aged 18–40 years was conducted in Liaoning, China. Data were collected using structured questionnaires. SEM was employed to analyze the relationships among constructs. The results indicate that parental responsibility significantly influences behavior through its effects on attitude (β = 0.156, p < 0.001) and intention (β = 0.142, p = 0.009), with a substantial indirect impact on behavior via attitude and intention (VAF = 47.13%). perceived benefits positively influence attitude (β = 0.144, p = 0.001) and intention (β = 0.023, p = 0.012). Organizational culture was found to moderate the relationship between parental responsibility and behavior. The findings have important implications for the development of culturally sensitive health interventions tailored to young breast cancer survivors. Practical interventions are suggested to assist young breast cancer survivors in enhancing their health behaviors by integrating parental responsibility into health promotion strategies. This study emphasizes how health behaviors can be managed more effectively within the specific cultural context of China. Understanding the adaptation process of Iranian breast cancer survivors’ post-treatment is crucial. This study explores the health perceptions, barriers, and coping mechanisms of Iranian survivors by integrating Stress-Coping Theory (SCT) and the Health Belief Model (HBM). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 17 survivors, and a grounded theory approach guided the deductive content analysis of the data. The findings reveal key themes, including perceived susceptibility, benefits, barriers to care, cues to action, self-efficacy, and appraisal of action. Perceived susceptibility highlights diagnostic challenges stemming from practitioner errors and symptom misconceptions. Perceived benefits underscore the importance of early detection and support from healthcare providers and families. Barriers include cultural and financial obstacles, while cues to action reflect the influence of media, family, and personal experiences on healthcare-seeking behavior. The study also examines coping strategies, such as problem-focused and emotion-focused approaches, along with family support and external stressors. To address these barriers and enhance support systems, the study suggests specific strategies for healthcare providers, including targeted training to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient communication. Culturally sensitive awareness campaigns can correct symptom misconceptions, while financial counseling can mitigate economic barriers. To prevent such failures, organizations must have capable leaders who possess the necessary crisis management competencies to handle such situations. Effective crisis management involves four crucial competencies: improvisation skills, analytical thinking skills, strategic planning skills, and change management skills. This study purposes to evaluate the essential leadership competencies required for effective crisis management, with a specific focus on conceptual competencies among middle leaders in Malaysia’s Ministry of Education (MOE). Utilizing the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM), this research seeks to obtain expert consensus on the most critical competencies required for effective crisis management. An instrument containing a list of conceptual competencies was presented to a diverse panel of 15 experts, including those with expertise in crisis management and education. The four elements tested surpassed the required conditions set in FDM. The defuzzification process also rearranged all the elements. In conclusion, this study successfully identified four crisis management competencies that are crucial for middle leaders in educational organizations. From a general perspective, the results demonstrate a moderate level of influence of educational technology on the overall TTCT scale, with high heterogeneity attributed to the adopted instruments, mixed methods and target outcomes. Additionally, the results indicate that only three of the TTCT subscales (fluency, flexibility and originality) are influenced by educational technologies. Among the interventions, interactive learning environments yielded medium to the largest mean effect size. Furthermore, moderator analyses suggest that the effects of interventions on two subscales of TTCT (flexibility and originality) are moderated by school types, research design and the duration of intervention. The conclusion drawn is that interventions promoting students’ creative thinking in different educational settings are efficacious.

Originality/value

Despite the low homogeneity of the results, which might have influenced the findings, the large fail-safe N suggests that these findings are robust. This study involved 293 students (178 female and 115 male) from four secondary schools in the Johor Bahru district with survey findings on the Exposure to Nature Scale, Connectedness to Nature Scale, Spiritual Values Scale, and Psychological Well-being Scale. The students in the study fell within the age range of 13 to 16 years, and the average age of the sample was 11.86 ± 2.32 years. Structural equation modeling indicated that high spirituality and nature connectedness mediated the relationship between exposure to nature and psychological well-being. Spirituality significantly influenced the relationship between exposure to nature and psychological well-being more than nature connectedness. The authors evaluated the scale’s reliability and validity. The analysis revealed that Entrapment Scale demonstrated strong internal consistency, indicating that it consistently measured the concept of entrapment. The relationships between Entrapment Scale scores and depression, anxiety, hopelessness, defeat, and suicidal ideation were also found to be significant. This suggests that Entrapment Scale is a valid tool for assessing entrapment in this context. We also determined an optimal cut-off value of 18 on the Entrapment Scale, which showed a high sensitivity of 98% in identifying those at risk of entrapment-related issues, with a specificity of 73.6% in correctly identifying those without such issues. The study confirmed the structure of the Entrapment Scale remains consistent with its original form when applied to the adolescent population. To achieve this, the extended theory of planned behavior was utilized as the theoretical framework. Quantitative data were collected from 480 unmarried women in China. Structural Equation Modeling was used to analyze the data. This study followed a two-phase survey procedure. In the first phase, the target population’s beliefs were elicited, and in the second phase, the relationships between those beliefs and other theories of planned behavior constructs were analyzed. The findings indicate that the theory of planned behavior model effectively elucidates the formation of marital intentions among these women. Negative and positive behavior beliefs, normative beliefs, and control beliefs serve as foundational elements for shaping marital attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. Notably, marital attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control directly influence marriage intentions. This research offers insights into the factors potentially influencing the marriage perspectives of Chinese unmarried women. It emphasizes the need to refine laws and regulations to better safeguard the rights and interests of Chinese women, especially in areas like marriage, childbearing, employment, and career progression. Objective: This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of NP-TCM interventions (e.g. Qigong, Tai Chi, Baduanjin) on the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in breast cancer patients. Methods: Randomized controlled trials published between 1999 and 2024 were retrieved from various databases. Studies comparing NP-TCM and control groups in quality of life and other outcomes were included. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software. 14 RCTs with 688 patients were included. Results: NP-TCM interventions significantly improved overall quality of life (SMD=0.13, 95%CI 0.24~0.51, P<0.001). Specifically, Baduanjin demonstrated substantial benefits (SMD=0.82, P<0.001). NP-TCM also enhanced sleep (SMD=1.16, P=0.04) and alleviated anxiety (SMD=-0.46, P<0.05). Conclusion: NP-TCM interventions effectively improved the HRQOL and certain symptoms for breast cancer patients, providing practical adjunctive therapies. However, study qualities require optimization.

Keywords: Breast cancer, traditional Chinese medicine, Non-pharmacologic interventions, Health-related quality of life (HRQOL), Systematic review, Meta-analysis

         Download Article

Helicopter Parenting as a Predictor of Academic Achievement and Life Satisfaction among Emerging Adults at University: A Meta-Analytic Path Analysis Based on Self-Determination Theory

Document Type: Zeinab Zaremohzzabieh, Seyedali Ahrari, Mansoureh Zarean, Samsilah Roslan

Journal: The Family Journal Type: Journal Article years:2024

Abstract

Existing literature on helicopter parenting’s impact on academic achievement and life satisfaction among emerging adults shows significant variability in findings. To address these inconsistencies, this study applies self-determination theory to examine helicopter parenting as a predictor of these outcomes among university students. Using meta-analytic structural equation modeling based on data from 28 studies (29 samples, n = 9,214), the analysis found that helicopter parenting is significantly associated with lower satisfaction and increased frustration of psychological needs. These factors negatively affected life satisfaction and academic performance. The model explained 10% of the variance in academic performance and 26% in life satisfaction, supporting key hypotheses. This study contributes to the parenting literature by synthesizing the effects of helicopter parenting on these outcomes among emerging adults. By applying self-determination theory, the research provides a framework that clarifies the direct impact of helicopter parenting on psychological needs satisfaction and frustration. This analysis not only reconciles previous inconsistencies in the literature but also highlights the importance of psychological needs in understanding the effects of parenting styles, advancing our knowledge of the relationship between parenting behaviors and developmental outcomes in young adults.

Keywords: Academic performance, Emerging adults, Helicopter parenting, Meta-analytic path analysis, Satisfaction with life

         Download Article

AI on Loss in Decision-Making and Its Associations with Digital Disorder, Socio-Demographics, and Physical Health Outcomes in Iran

Document Type: Fakhroddin Noorbehbahani, Zeinab Zaremohzzabieh, Hooman Hoghooghi Esfahani, Soroush Bajoghli, Mahboobeh Moosivand

Type: Book years:2024

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the connections between digital disorder, socio-demographics, physical health outcomes, and artificial intelligence (AI) on decision-making loss.
